Heckler & Koch
G3

(Vintage Karl Kaps Scope)

The Heckler & Koch G3 is a select-fire battle rifle chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO, developed in the 1950s by the West German manufacturer Heckler & Koch in collaboration with Spain's state-owned design agency CETME. Serving as the standard-issue service rifle for the West German Bundeswehr from 1959 until its replacement by the 5.56mm Heckler & Koch G36 in the 1990s, the G3 became one of the most widely adopted and produced military firearms of the Cold War era.

Though the G3 serves a completely different tactical role than MP5, they are directly related: the MP5 was designed as a scaled-down, pistol-caliber version of the G3.
